How To Help
Anderson Humane Society receives no Federal, State, or County funding. All donations to AHS are tax-deductible and essential. It is only thanks to our generous supporters that we are able to save the lives of homeless pets in Anderson County. Monetary donations, however large or small are absolutely vital to our success.
We rely on our volunteers. We simply could not accomplish our life-saving mission without the dedication and service of our supporters. There are a lot of different ways to get involved. Volunteering makes you feel good and makes a big difference.
Spay & Neuter
We can not express how important it is for you to spay and neuter every dog and cat you own. If it weren't for the unwanted litters born every year, pet overpopulation would not be as big of a problem as it is. There are several affordable options for having your pet fixed and our Spay Neuter Assistance Program offers all Anderson County residents access to low cost surgeries. There's no excuse: It's hip to snip!
When the shelter is full, we need foster homes to keep the cats and dogs at the county shelter out of danger of euthanasia. When we are full, we are unable to take in anymore needy pets and this could put their lives at risk. Contact us for our current foster needs.
If you can't adopt, you could sponsor a portion of a cat or dog's adoption fee. The reduction in their adoption fee can help them find their forever home quicker. Once they are adopted, you will be sent a notification that your donation helped them find a loving home. Also, sponsoring events can help your business or organization reach a new audience. Becoming an event sponsor allows you to advertise while making a difference for the pets at AHS!
Become a Member
Becoming a member is a great way to show your support for AHS. Membership allows you to get more involved. Members can be as involved as they wish, but are not required to do anything extra.
Buy our AHS homemade dog treats available at multiple locations in Anderson County. All proceeds benefit our low cost spay/neuter program for pets in Anderson County. Volunteers bake our treats to keep up with the public's demand. Baking treats is a great way to help AHS and the pets in our community.
Chocolate to the Rescue
There are two great ways to help AHS by eating chocolate! Buy some of our chocolate candy bars or sponsor a box in your favorite flavor and get your pet's picture on 50 bars.
Walk your dog
Use the free app Walk for a dog and earn donations for AHS simply by walking your dog. The more people walk for AHS the more Wooftrax will donate. The app is available for Apple or Android.
Do you shop at Kroger or order products off Amazon? Did you know simply doing your normal shopping can benefit AHS and cost you nothing extra? Check out some of these free ways you can help the dogs and cats here at the Adoption Center.
Give a bed
Quality rest reduces stress in adoptable pets. When pets sleep better, they behave better, which makes them more adoptable. Kuranda shelter beds are long-lasting and easy to clean making them ideal for the shelter environment. The gift of essential rest is a great way to help the pets at AHS.
Save your cans
AHS collects aluminum cans to recycle to fund the care of the cats and dogs at the Adoption Center. Save your aluminum cans for us and make a difference in the lives of the pets in our care.
