The Anderson Humane Society is proud to announce that we have recently
received a spay/neuter grant from the state and would like to offer
discounted spay/neuter vouchers to those in our community who have
pets that have not been fixed. This program is open to
Anderson County residents only, and is limited to two vouchers per
household per month. There will be a small co-pay for each pet, depending
on species, gender, and size. Co-pays range from $20 to $35.
Last year, the Humane Society took in over 1,000 stray, abandoned,
or unwanted animals. A strong spay/neuter initiative is the solution
to lowering our intake rate, and will in turn decrease our euthanasia
rate due to overcrowding of the shelter. Our adoption rates will increase
due to less free puppies and kittens being given away
in the community.
We strongly urge you to apply to participate in our discount voucher
program, and want to note that this program is NOT limited to low-income
families. Anyone can participate in our program, no matter how high
or low their income. We feel that having the program available to
all individuals in our community will allow us to help have as many
animals fixed as possible, and will help us to reach our
goal of No More Homeless Pets in the near future.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of the animals in
our community. Through our spay/neuter program, we can make sure that
no unwanted kittens or puppies face a life in a cage, waiting to be
adopted, unsure of what their future holds. Because, after all
every
pet deserves a home of its own. Please have your pets spayed or neutered
it
saves lives!
Please pick up an application at the shelter (located at 1410 Versailles
Road) or on the blue Humane Society newsboard (located inside Wal-Mart
in the pet section) or download one using the links below:
